What is NMN?

NMN (Nicotinamide Mononucleotide) is a molecule naturally found in your body that plays a critical role in energy production, cellular repair, and healthy ageing. Think of it as fuel for your cells — especially the ones responsible for keeping you energised, sharp, and resilient as you age.

As we get older, our natural levels of NMN decline, which can lead to lower energy, slower metabolism, and signs of aging. Supplementing with NMN helps your body produce more NAD⁺ (Nicotinamide Adenine Dinucleotide) — a coenzyme essential for thousands of biological processes.

Is it safe?

NMN is widely considered safe for human consumption.

Research and clinical studies show no significant adverse effects at recommended dosages. As a naturally occurring compound found in foods like broccoli, avocados, and edamame, NMN is well-tolerated by most individuals when taken as a supplement. Studies in animals and preliminary human trials suggest it supports cellular health without toxicity, even with long-term use.

As research continues, current evidence indicates NMN is a low-risk, high-reward supplement for those looking to support healthy aging.

In fact, it's so effective it's not sold as a supplement in the US and EU.

You heard that right. NMN works so well that  in 2022, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) decided that NMN could no longer be marketed as a dietary supplement because it was being investigated as a pharmaceutical drug.  A similar regulatory stance has been taken in the European Union, where NMN also falls into a gray zone—allowed in some forms, restricted in others, and closely watched.

Why? Because it works so well. NMN showed so much promise in scientific studies (especially in areas like ageing, energy metabolism, and cellular repair) that pharmaceutical companies took notice. Once a compound is being investigated as a drug, the FDA (and similarly strict EU regulators) say it can’t also be sold as a supplement.

One of NMN’s most exciting benefits is its role in healthy aging. By restoring declining NAD⁺ levels, NMN activates longevity-related genes that help your body repair itself from daily wear and tear. It supports cellular energy, helps reduce age-related inflammation, and encourages better metabolic function. The result? You may feel more energetic, resilient, and youthful—not just on the outside, but where it matters most: inside your cells.

Heart

NMN supports cardiovascular health by boosting NAD⁺ levels, which are essential for maintaining the energy supply in heart cells. As we age, our heart becomes less efficient due to oxidative stress and decreased mitochondrial function. NMN helps improve blood vessel elasticity and supports better circulation by activating sirtuins—proteins linked to cellular repair and longevity. This promotes healthier blood flow, supports balanced blood pressure, and helps your heart function more efficiently over time.

Heart Health

Your brain is one of the most energy-demanding organs in the body, and NAD⁺ is vital for powering its cells. NMN helps protect neurons from age-related damage, supports cognitive clarity, and may enhance memory and focus. It does this by improving mitochondrial function and supporting communication between brain cells. Early research also suggests NMN may play a role in reducing oxidative stress and inflammation in the brain, which are common contributors to cognitive decline.

DNA Helix Structure

Every day, your DNA is exposed to damage from stress, toxins, and the natural aging process. NMN supports your body’s built-in repair systems by increasing NAD⁺, which fuels enzymes like PARPs and sirtuins responsible for fixing damaged DNA. With more NAD⁺ available, your cells can respond to damage more efficiently, helping reduce the long-term effects of aging at the genetic level. This means your body stays more resilient over time, right down to its blueprint.
